Bridal Party
Maid of Honor - Carmela Escabillas
As with most sisters, Carmela (or fondly nicknamed Camille by the family) and Christina constantly found themselves in each other's rooms and closets. They enjoy traveling together, shopping and giving the other a hard time (much to the joy of Mike and Dan) about what item of clothing was stolen from the other's closet. They have shared many moments in each other's lives and Carmela is usually the first person that Christina goes to share any joys, excitement, anger or disappointment.
Bridesmaid - Jacelyn Olandesca
Jacelyn and Christina became best friends when they were 10 years old and in grade 5. Christina was the class secretary and Jacelyn the class librarian. As teenagers they shared many unique experiences: phone call marathons (their record was over 6 hours), waiting in a 3 hour line up at the World of Wheels for Jonathan Brandis' autograph and delivering speeches at each other's debutante's balls. Through their pre-teen, teenage and young adult lives they have kept their friendship strong.
Bridesmaid – Alma Deguzman
Alma and Christina have known each other since they were in diapers. Their parents were friends prior to either of them being born and so it was no surprise that they would spend a lot of time together. They enjoyed making up dance performances to Madonna in the 80s, crashing into each other during the ski lessons that their parents had put them into, and taking photographs once Christina started her interest in photography. Alma has been a solid friend and has been there in many of Christina's best and trying moments in her life.
Best Man – Steven Reimer
Steve and Dan met while attending DeVry. They had many similar interests, and Dan found in Steve a motivating and inspirational force, which eventually led Dan to take up motorcycling and to learn, with debatable success, to play guitar. In Calgary Steve has been Dan's closest friend, with whom he has shared many nights over a backyard fire with pipe and conversation, whether technical, or philosophical.
Groomsman – Joseph Kronstal
While Dan does things by the book, his younger brother Joe likes to write his own rulebook, shoot from the hip, and live on the edge. His nomadic and adventurous days may be winding down, as his recent transition from rogue to husband has an increasingly domestic influence, but Dan expects to have many more memories of recklessness and danger as Joe's untamable spirit is sure to be the source of shared or vicarious future excitement.
Groomsman – Chris Wiens
The Wiens family, including eldest son Chris, has always been close to the Kronstals. Chris grew up along side Dan and Joe, and was their most constant -- and loudest -- friend. Since moving to Calgary, Chris and Dan have continued to spend time together, during which Chris never fails to be a source of intellecutal and spiritual encouragement and challenge.
Flower girl – Abby Joy Reimer
Winner of "Cutest baby according to Dan" award, had made several appearances to their Ultimate Frisbee games. As the daughter of the Best Man, Abby easily softened Dan up and 'prepped' him for married life.
Ring and coin bearer – Nicholas Hooper
Nicholas, the son of Christina's god-sister, was the most immediate choice to be a ring-bearer. He had won the hearts of the entire family the moment his baby blues started tearing up for the first time. Both Dan and Christina are blessed and honored that Ate April and Curtis has allowed their adorable little man to join the wedding party.
Principal and Secondary Sponsors -
Rodrigo & Annie Falcon and Rudy & Wendy Wiens
"Principal sponsors are couples whom the bride and groom respect & admire. They are, as in the early days of the Church, sponsors of the couple attesting to their readiness for marriage and freedom to marry. These are often aunts and uncles or close friends of the family."
"Secondary sponsors are women and men whom the couple chooses to involve in their ceremony because of their affinity or friendship with them. They are typically relatives or close friends. These sponsors are chosen to partake in the cord and veil ceremony."
In the hopes of integrating both Western and Filipino traditions, Dan and Christina have each selected a couple to act as both Principal and Secondary Sponsors. This role is symbolic of the wisdom & support they shall offer, and a tribute to the influence and support already shown in raising the new couple. They will participate in the cord and veil ceremony during the wedding.
